More Words in Thousands

Much, much more to come. Probably until you're sick of it.
Bow Push

P.S. There will be a reposting of all my pictures sometime in the next few weeks.

The Soren Larsen

Soren Larsen
Her helm is fast to the course
There is no wavering through swell
And hell and high force

The watch, the dark, the sea
Bind together in long harmony

The Helm

Sojourner's Apologies

I will have to apologize once again for the serious lack of posting.  I'm sure that most of you have given me up for dead, but I can assure you that any such assumptions are grossly exaggerated.  It's just that I have been estranged from any but the most rudimentary internet connections for the past two months.  Sadly, it will be another month before I am settled back in any one locality of less than 600 miles.

Currently I am half way through my journey through the South Pacific.  It has been a rather arduous "vacation", but satisfying.  We started in Rarotonga where we met our ship, Soren Larsen.  She actually only has two masts, not three as I had told everyone.  My mistake.  We sailed to Palmerston atoll from there and spent a day at anchor there.  Then we sailed to Nuie, where we were to anchor for a day as well, but we decided against it since it was Sunday and everything would be closed.  The time was better spent in the Tonga Islands where we are now.  currently, we're anchored in the very cool harbor of Vava'u, Tonga Islds.  The harbor in in the middle of the island and is accessed via a very windy natural channel.  It's one of the "safe harbors" for cyclones (hurricanes) in the south pacific.  It's our first time off the ship in anything resembling civilization since we left Rarotonga eight days ago.  That doesn't sound like very much, but take into account the view of nothing but open ocean as far as you can see and 30 people with you on board.    The rest of the crew is great and we've had a great time with them around the dinner table, in the galley and up in the rigging.

Hope to find a connection that allows me to upload some of my pics sometime in the coming weeks.  Don't hold your collective breaths.  Expect a few more updates this week, and then another long absence as we will be in open ocean again heading for Fiji.

Best wishes.
Sailing on.
